Ivan Puchote, a 20-year-old man, was last seen on September 29, 2006, in front of St. Mary's Catholic Church on Ranch Road 12 in Wimberly, Texas. He had driven to the church parking lot with a friend, but their vehicle was followed by two men in a white Ford Explorer who were reportedly throwing bottles at Puchote's car. After they arrived at the church, Puchote's friend fled, leaving him behind.
A confrontation between Puchote and the two men ensued, and he has not been seen or heard from since.
Authorities later found Puchote's car in the church parking lot, with broken windows and bloodstains indicating a violent struggle. The Ford Explorer driven by the men was discovered abandoned west of Wimberly, also containing blood in the rear cargo area. Investigators believe Puchote was the victim of a brutal assault and likely murdered. The identities of the men involved in the altercation are known to law enforcement, but their names have not been publicly released.
