Marion George Perry, a 67-year-old man, was last seen on February 23, 1995, in Fannin County, Texas. Perry had traveled to stay at a friend's house near the Red River for a fishing trip. On the night of his disappearance, Perry experienced chest pains and expressed the need to go to the Veterans Affairs hospital in Bonham, Texas. His friend, who was unable to drive at night, suggested he wait until the morning, but Perry decided to drive himself to the hospital.
Perry never arrived at the hospital, and his family reported him missing two days later, on February 25. Evidence suggests Perry spent the night at a motel in Durant, Oklahoma, before checking out on February 26. There were also reports of him potentially hitching a ride to a café in Bennington, Oklahoma. Ten days after he was last seen, his 1979 Ford Ranchero was found abandoned on Highway 70 near Bennington. His personal belongings, including his black cowboy hat, were found inside the vehicle, but there was no sign of Perry.
