Lutricia Steele, a 27-year-old mother of four, was last seen on May 1, 2008, leaving her home in the Mont Pleasant neighborhood of Schenectady, New York. She left around 2:00 p.m., telling her family she would return in two hours to pick up her children and attend a barbecue. She was seen running errands, including cashing a check and attending a doctor’s appointment, where she mentioned possibly being pregnant. However, Lutricia never returned home, and she has not been heard from since.
At the time of her disappearance, Lutricia did not have a car and was seen walking. She was dealing with several challenges in her life, including being on disability for a back injury and preparing to testify against the father of her youngest child in an upcoming trial. Despite these circumstances, it was considered uncharacteristic for her to leave without notifying anyone or abandon her children. Her prepaid cellphone, which disappeared with her, remained active for a short period after she went missing, although no calls were made from it.
