Patricia Santos, a 36-year-old woman from Worcester, Massachusetts, went missing on May 20, 2009. At the time of her disappearance, Patricia had been clean from drugs for two years and was working at Maranda’s House, a women’s recovery program. She was last seen at her home on Fruit Street, but failed to show up for work over the following two days, prompting her coworkers to report her missing.
Prior to her disappearance, Patricia had taken out a restraining order against her ex-boyfriend, Albert Carabba, which was set to expire two days after she vanished. On May 23, 2009, Carabba was arrested after a police chase in Patricia’s 2000 Ford Mustang. He claimed that Patricia had lent him the car and told him she was planning to go to Florida after a relapse. However, her friends and family found this unlikely, as Patricia had been committed to her sobriety. Additionally, her bank account showed no activity, and investigators found no evidence that she had gone to Florida.
