Scott Andreas Sims, also known as Andy, was an 11-year-old boy who went missing on December 9, 1961, from Wichita Falls, Texas. That afternoon, Scott was at home with his older brother in the 4600 block of Stanford Avenue. He went outside to play sometime between 12:45 and 1:00 p.m. His mother returned home at 2:30 p.m. and found that Scott was missing. After searching for several hours, the family reported him missing to the police that evening.
At the time of his disappearance, Scott was a fifth-grade student at Jefferson Elementary School and was involved in the Boy Scouts. He was last seen wearing a black winter coat, black turtleneck, blue jeans, and a black knitted cap. Despite extensive searches in the surrounding areas, including Lake Wichita, no trace of him was found. His case remains unsolved, and authorities suspect foul play, believing he may have been the victim of a homicide. Over the years, his DNA has been compared to unidentified remains, but no match has been made.
Despite the passage of time, Scott's case remains open, and the Wichita Falls Police Department continues to seek information that could lead to answers about his disappearance.
