Jeannette Kamahele, a 20-year-old student at Santa Rosa Junior College, was last seen on April 25, 1972, in Cotati, California. She left her residence at around 9:30 a.m., intending to hitchhike to school, a common mode of transportation during that time. A witness reported seeing her get into a faded brown Chevrolet pickup truck, likely from the early 1950s. The driver was described as a Caucasian male in his 20s or 30s with an Afro-style haircut. Jeannette has not been heard from since that day.
Her disappearance is considered part of a series of mysterious events involving several young women who vanished in the Santa Rosa area around the same time. These cases, known as the Santa Rosa Hitchhiker Murders, remain unsolved. Although many of the victims were later found, Jeannette’s body was never recovered, making her the only one still missing from the series.
Jeannette had a distinctive birthmark under her right breast and wore a dental bridge. Her family has sought answers for decades, but her case remains unsolved. Some investigators have speculated she may have been a victim of a serial killer operating in the area during that time.
