Deborah Rae Meyer, a 15-year-old girl from Red Lodge, Montana, disappeared on August 4, 1974, while visiting relatives in Rawlins, Wyoming. She was last seen leaving her family's home near Seventh and Spruce Streets to walk to a local movie theater but never arrived. Despite extensive searches, she has not been seen or heard from since.
Meyer's disappearance occurred during a troubling time in Rawlins, where several young women vanished within a seven-week period.
This includes the cases of Carlene Brown and Christy Gross, who disappeared in July 1974, and 10-year-old Jayleen Banker, who vanished in late August that same year. Both Gross and Banker were later found murdered, but neither Brown nor Meyer have been located. Foul play is strongly suspected in all of these cases.
A potential suspect in these disappearances is Royal Russell Long, a convicted kidnapper who lived in the area at the time and was known to work at local fairs and carnivals. However, he was never convicted in connection with these cases and died in prison in 1993.
