Dorothy “Dee” Scofield, aged 12, disappeared on July 22, 1976, in Ocala, Florida. That day, Dorothy had accompanied her mother to a shopping center while her mother took a driving test nearby. Dorothy was last seen around 2:00 p.m. at the J.M. Fields department store, where she returned a pair of sandals and purchased a birthday present for her brother. She never returned to meet her mother as planned, and she was reported missing shortly afterward.
