Selinda Jean Winegar, a 16-year-old girl from Burlington, Vermont, was last seen on March 1, 1979, when she left her family's home on Forest Street to visit a friend. Selinda never returned, and her family reported her missing shortly after. At the time, she was involved with a troubled crowd and had begun experimenting with drugs. In the months leading up to her disappearance, Selinda and her family received threatening phone calls, prompting them to change to an unlisted phone number.
