On May 30, 1980, a day meant for family and outdoor enjoyment, two-year-old Larry Dewayne Krebbs, known as DeWayne, vanished from a campsite near Lake Texoma in Bryan County, Oklahoma. The young boy, with blond hair and blue eyes, was on a camping trip with his parents and two older siblings. His father reported that he and DeWayne were gathering firewood together. He stated that he was walking slightly ahead of his son, and when he turned around, the little boy was gone. The area where they were walking was described as wide open and about fifty feet from a riverbank. An extensive and immediate search of the Lake Texoma region was launched, but tragically, it yielded no clues as to what happened to young DeWayne. Investigators initially considered the possibility that he had fallen into the nearby river, which was reportedly high and flowing rapidly at the time. However, DeWayne's father expressed doubt about this theory, stating he never heard a splash or a cry for help. He has maintained his belief that his son was abducted, pointing to the presence of other people in the popular recreation area that day. Despite his suspicions, no suspects have ever been named in connection with the boy's disappearance, and there is no physical evidence to support either an abduction or a drowning. Decades have passed since Larry Dewayne Krebbs was last seen, yet his case remains an open and haunting mystery. DeWayne had a noticeable surgical scar that extended from the left side of his chest to his back. The Bryan County Sheriff's Office continues to hold the primary responsibility for the investigation. Over the years, age-progressed photos have been created and released in the hope that someone might recognize him. The disappearance of a curious and innocent two-year-old boy from a family camping trip has left a void of unanswered questions for his loved ones and the community. With no concrete evidence of his fate, the case is a poignant reminder of the enduring pain and uncertainty that surrounds unsolved missing persons cases.
