Barry "Bucky" Kephart, an 11-year-old boy, disappeared from Albuquerque, New Mexico, on August 22, 1981. He was last seen after leaving a note for his parents, stating that he was going to a friend's house and would return soon. However, Barry was never heard from again. His family did not report him missing until two days later, which raised suspicions among investigators.
Barry's sister later came forward with disturbing information.
She recalled hearing her father, Barry Sr., beating him the night he disappeared. Barry Sr. was known to be abusive, and his sister noted that her brother would not have written the note due to his dyslexia. It is believed that after the beating, Barry died, and his parents disposed of his body, possibly in a dumpster near their apartment. His remains have never been found.
Although the case was reopened in 1994 and investigators concluded that Barry had likely been murdered by his parents, no charges were filed due to the statute of limitations on murder in New Mexico at the time, which expired in 1996. Barry's mother passed away in 2005, and his father continues to deny involvement, maintaining his innocence.
