On a winter day in January of 1985, 68-year-old Wanda Lee Kores was in Seattle, Washington, preparing for a shopping trip. After being dropped off to browse the stores, the plan was for her to take a bus back home. Wanda, a wife and mother, was known to suffer from diabetes and a mental disorder, which added a layer of vulnerability to her daily life.
