In March of 1985, 19-year-old Rodney Wayne Longman, known to his friends and family as Rod, was a young man who found himself at a crossroads. Having dropped out of high school, he was working for his grandfather in Nebraska. Friends described him as a good kid who had, unfortunately, fallen in with a rough crowd and become involved with drugs.
