On January 20, 1986, a 22-year-old University of Arizona student named Lorne Karl Landeen vanished from his Tucson, Arizona apartment. A student with plans to become an athletic trainer after graduation, Lorne was reportedly upset and depressed at the time of his disappearance. It is believed that he intended to go for a jog in the Sabino Canyon area. He was never heard from again. Lorne is a white male with brown hair and blue eyes, standing at 6'2" and weighing around 150 pounds. He is ambidextrous, writing and eating with his left hand but participating in sports with his right. He also wears eyeglasses with thick lenses or contact lenses. Two days after he was last seen, on January 22, 1986, Landeen's vehicle was found abandoned and locked in the parking lot of Sabino High School. Inside the car were his wallet and all of his keys, with the exception of the ignition key. Despite the discovery of his car, there was no sign of Lorne at the scene. His mother reported that search dogs traced his scent around the vehicle, suggesting he may have left the area in another car. In the years following his disappearance, his family undertook their own search efforts, including an attempt to trace his unique eyeglass prescription across the country, but this yielded no results. A tip from the Salvation Army's missing person services suggested a possible sighting of Lorne in El Paso, Texas, sometime after he went missing. However, by the time his family arrived to investigate, the individual who resembled him was no longer there, and the lead could not be confirmed. In the 1990s, Lorne Landeen was declared legally deceased, though his case remains an unsolved mystery. The Tucson Police Department continues to list him as a missing person, and the circumstances surrounding his disappearance over three decades ago are still largely unknown.
