Rebecca Beard, a 22-year-old woman, was last seen on March 1, 1986, at the Excalibur Club in Freeport, Texas. She had a 2-year-old daughter and worked at a local car dealership. That evening, she left the club and was never seen again. In 1994, during renovation work at the nightclub, her driver's license was found underneath a disc jockey booth, but no other significant clues were uncovered at the time.
In 1995, Paul Gayland Taylor Jr.
was convicted of her murder after investigators were tipped off that he had bragged about killing her. Taylor confessed, stating he had shot Rebecca at his home in Clute, Texas, and buried her in a shallow grave near a drainage canal in a rice field south of Angleton. Despite extensive searches in the area, her remains were never recovered. Taylor was sentenced to life in prison for her murder and an additional 25 years for attempting to hire someone to kill a witness in the case.
