Susan Robin Bender, 15 years old at the time, disappeared on April 25, 1986, from the Greyhound bus station in Modesto, California. She had told friends and family she was heading to Carmel to visit friends for a few days. While at the bus station, she was seen making a phone call and was later observed getting into an olive-green van instead of boarding the bus. Susan has never been seen again.
Her diary, address book, and some of her clothing were later discovered at a suspect's home, but no substantial leads were uncovered at the time. Decades after her disappearance, police reopened the case, and in 2023, Raymond Lewis Stafford, who had rented the van Susan entered, was arrested and charged with her murder. Stafford had allegedly confessed to strangling a woman and burying her body near Yosemite National Park, but despite searches, Susan's remains have not been found.
Although foul play has long been suspected, the case remains unsolved. Investigators continue to seek information, with hopes that technological advancements and renewed interest in the case might provide answers.Last Seen: Apr 25, 1986
