On the evening of May 2, 1986, 35-year-old Darline Pinelli Vaughan was at her home on Sasha Court in Ettrick, Virginia. At approximately 9:30 p.m., following a disagreement with her husband concerning family finances, she left the house to go for a walk. She was wearing a red blouse, blue jeans, a gray jogging jacket, and Nike sneakers. Darline, who needed glasses, had them on when she departed. This seemingly ordinary moment would be the last time she was ever seen.
