Hiromi Kazuni, a 25-year-old Japanese national, was last seen on July 10, 1986, in Fort Myers, Florida. Kazuni had been a devoted member of the Unification Church since 1981 and was selling Garfield hand puppets door-to-door for the church on Fort Myers Beach at the time of her disappearance. She was last spotted around 6:00 p.m. in the parking lot of Dino's Restaurant, which was closed for the summer.
Witnesses along her route did not recall seeing her after this point, leading investigators to believe she may not have made it past the restaurant.
Kazuni had moved from Japan to Miami in 1984, and her family still resided in Japan when she went missing. At the time of her disappearance, she was wearing a bright pink shirt, gray and white striped pants, and carrying a large black shoulder bag filled with the puppets she was selling.
