Marjorie Alice Knox, a 14-year-old girl from Chaparral, New Mexico, disappeared on the night of February 13, 1987. She attended a Valentine's Day party at Veterans Park in El Paso, Texas, where she was seen speaking with a young man driving a small truck. Marjorie had promised her mother she would return home by 10:00 p.m., but after leaving the party, she visited a friend's house in Chaparral instead. She left her friend's home between 2:00 and 3:00 a.m., only a 15- to 20-minute walk from her own home, but she never arrived and has not been seen since.

Marjorie's case is linked to a series of disappearances of young women in the El Paso area during the same year, many of whom were later found murdered and buried in the desert. A serial rapist named David Leonard Wood, who was active in the region at the time, was later convicted of killing several of these women, though he has not been charged in Marjorie's case. Marjorie knew some of the other victims, and her disappearance has long raised suspicions of a connection to these crimes.

At the time of her disappearance, there were unconfirmed reports that Marjorie might have been pregnant. Despite extensive investigations, her body has never been found, and her fate remains a mystery. The Dona Ana County Sheriff's Department continues to investigate the case, which remains unsolved after more than 35 years.
