On May 12, 1987, 31-year-old Roy Thomas Bluebird was released from the Gallup Municipal Jail in Gallup, New Mexico. He was seen later that day in Vanderwagen, New Mexico, a small community located south of Gallup. After this last sighting, Roy was never seen or heard from again. His case has since gone cold, leaving his family and investigators with many unanswered questions. There is very little information available regarding the specific details of his disappearance.
