Daniel Stephen Spangle, a 1-year-old boy, disappeared along with his mother, Denise Ruth Fagot, on March 2, 1989, from their apartment in Lancaster, California. The circumstances surrounding their disappearance are suspicious. When they were last seen, the front door to their apartment was left open, and the sliding glass door appeared to have been forced open, suggesting a possible break-in.
Investigators also discovered a muddy footprint on top of the air conditioning unit outside, adding to the evidence that foul play might have been involved.
Daniel's mother had recently moved to Lancaster after separating from Daniel's father, and they were planning to stay close to her family. The pair was last seen by Denise’s boyfriend when he left for work that morning. When Denise's sister arrived two hours later to pick up her key, both Denise and Daniel were missing. None of their personal belongings, including Daniel's car seat and diaper bag, were taken, and their car remained parked in its designated spot, undisturbed.
