Toni Danielle Clark, a 17-year-old high school student from Oakland, California, was last seen on March 16, 1990. She had been visiting her cousin and was driving home to San Francisco in her boyfriend’s 1979 Chevrolet Camaro. The car had been stalling, and on that fateful evening, it stalled again while she was on the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge.
A vehicle collision occurred when another driver crashed into the Camaro, but when authorities arrived at the scene, Toni was nowhere to be found.
Police initially speculated that Toni might have fallen into the San Francisco Bay due to the impact of the crash, prompting the Coast Guard to conduct an extensive search of the water. However, no trace of her, her clothing, or any physical evidence was found. Some witnesses reported seeing a man near her car, further complicating the case. Toni’s car keys and a bracelet she always wore were found inside the vehicle, but no one saw her body go over the bridge.
Toni’s mother later reported receiving a mysterious phone call about a week after her disappearance. A girl, believed to be Toni, was heard crying on the other end of the line before the call abruptly ended. Despite this, authorities were unable to trace the call. While some officials believed that Toni had drowned, her case remains open as a missing person, with suspicions of possible foul play, including abduction. Adding to the tragedy, Toni was two months pregnant at the time of her disappearance.
