Lawrence Edward Wells III, age 29, was last seen on September 28, 1992, in Houston, Texas. On that day, he was at his mother and stepfather's home, where he prepared dinner before leaving to collect money that was owed to him. Wells had planned to return to his parents' home after completing this errand, but he never came back. His vehicle, a black Dodge Colt, was discovered abandoned a week later in downtown Houston on Smith Street. There was no sign of him near the vehicle, and he has not been seen or heard from since.

At the time of his disappearance, Wells was wearing a bright green and burgundy Hawaiian-style shirt, jeans, and tennis shoes. He had distinguishing scars, including a small one above his right eyebrow and another on his right leg. Despite extensive searches and investigations, his case remains unsolved, and foul play is suspected. The Houston Police Department continues to investigate, with the case classified as an endangered missing person.
