Bertha Jeanette Burkholder, 25, was last seen on December 27, 1992, at her home in Fredericksburg, Virginia. According to her husband, Bertha left their apartment that night after packing a suitcase and some clothes, while the rest of the family was asleep. She did not have a car, money, or credit cards at the time, and she left behind her two young daughters—one from a previous marriage and a four-year-old from her current marriage.
