Karen Denise Wells, a 23-year-old mother from Haskell, Oklahoma, vanished on April 12, 1994, while on a cross-country trip to visit a friend in New Jersey. After driving for over 20 hours, she stopped at the Pike Motel in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. She called her friend, Melissa, that evening, saying she planned to grab food from McDonald's and then return to her room for a nap.
