Jeanetta Lewis Lavalais, age 34, was last seen on the evening of July 5, 1997, in Hankamer, Texas. That night, her father dropped her off at an area known locally as "the cuts," a place where people gathered to socialize and drink. She was last seen walking down Speights Road around 10:00 p.m. and has not been heard from since. At the time of her disappearance, Jeanetta was living with her common-law husband and two grandchildren.
