Ella M. Murray, an 85-year-old woman, was last seen on August 22, 1997, at her residence in the Gordonville neighborhood of Bartow, Florida. She was reported missing by her roommate after apparently crawling out of a window that morning. Ella had been experiencing memory problems and confusion, raising concerns that she may have wandered off and become disoriented. An extensive search, including ground and aerial efforts, as well as the use of K-9 units, failed to locate her.
There was an unconfirmed sighting of Ella at a Wal-Mart in Bartow on August 23, 1997, but this lead did not result in her being found. At the time of her disappearance, she was wearing a red and white shirt with lavender-colored velvet pants. She also did not have her medication for high blood pressure with her, adding to the concerns about her safety.
Despite the efforts of the Polk County Sheriff's Office and other agencies, Ella's case remains unsolved, with no significant clues about her whereabouts since the day she disappeared.
