Wensheng Zheng, a 31-year-old computer consultant, was last seen in Houston, Texas, on August 17, 1999. On the day of his disappearance, Zheng left messages for both his boss and his fiancée, stating he had an emergency and needed to travel to Austin. He promised to return in two days, but he was never heard from again. His fiancée and employer initially assumed the trip was for personal or work-related reasons. However, when he failed to return, he was reported missing.
Investigators found his wallet, keys, suitcase, and cell phone left behind in his apartment, along with an unfinished letter to his father expressing happiness about his upcoming marriage. His car was discovered in its parking spot with the trunk slightly open. There were no signs of forced entry or a struggle at his residence. Despite reports that Zheng had acquaintances in Austin, there is no indication he ever made it to the city.
Zheng had been in regular contact with his family in China, and it was out of character for him to disappear without warning. Despite extensive searches and investigations, no leads have surfaced regarding his whereabouts. His bank accounts and credit cards were never touched after his disappearance, adding to the mystery. His case remains unsolved, and authorities continue to seek any information that might help resolve the case.
