Laura Ayala, a 13-year-old girl from Houston, Texas, went missing on March 10, 2002. That evening, she left her apartment around 10:15 p.m. to buy a newspaper for a school assignment from a nearby gas station. Laura successfully purchased the newspaper and was last seen leaving the store. However, she never returned home. Later that night, her shoes and the newspaper were discovered scattered in a parking lot between her apartment complex and the gas station.
