Remigio Hernandez Missing Person Case

Remigio Herrera Hernandez, a 36-year-old fisherman, was last seen on June 11, 2002, off the coast of Fort Bragg, California. While working on a fishing vessel about eight miles offshore from Noyo Harbor, Hernandez was dropping fishing pots into the ocean when he accidentally fell overboard. Despite immediate rescue efforts from the crew, including the use of a safety rope and ring buoy, Hernandez disappeared beneath the water and was not seen again.

The U.S. Coast Guard conducted an extensive search operation using both boats and helicopters, but no trace of Hernandez was ever found. He is presumed to have drowned, though his body was never recovered. At the time of his disappearance, Hernandez was wearing a yellow rain suit and black rubber boots. He also had a distinctive tattoo on his left arm and was known to sometimes use the alias Raphael Sanchez.

The Mendocino County Sheriff's Office continues to list his case as an open investigation, and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the authorities. Hernandez's disappearance is classified as a "lost/injured missing" case, with foul play not suspected but tragic circumstances likely involved.
