Brendan Gonzalez, a 4-year-old boy from Plattsmouth, Nebraska, was last seen on January 6, 2003. On that morning, Brendan's father, Ivan Henk, took him outside to play, but both soon disappeared. Later that day, Henk was involved in a high-speed police chase after taking Brendan’s mother's car without permission. The chase ended with Henk crashing the car, but when authorities caught up with him, Brendan was not with him.
Blood evidence was found in the trunk of the car, on the car seat, and in the garage, leading investigators to suspect foul play. Initially, Henk denied harming Brendan but later confessed to murdering him. He claimed to have killed his son due to delusions that Brendan was the Antichrist. Henk admitted to disposing of Brendan’s body in a trash bin, leading police to search a nearby landfill, though they were unable to recover his remains.
