In the late summer of 2004, the close-knit community of Bourbon County, Kentucky, was unsettled by the disappearance of 65-year-old Albert 'Gary' Mitchell. A well-known figure in the Central Kentucky horse community, Mitchell was a Vietnam veteran who frequented horse sales, swap meets, and stockyards in the region.
