On a summer day in August 2005, a 14-year-old boy named Edmond Tillman, also known as Eddie, vanished from New York City. His mother last saw him on August 10, 2005, after dropping him off at a school in Manhattan to take a test that would determine if he could advance to the eighth grade. Edmond was last seen in the vicinity of Houston and Pitt Street in the East Village area of Manhattan around 7:00 p.m. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a white t-shirt, denim shorts, and blue and white Nike sneakers. He also wore a gold hoop earring in his pierced left ear. Edmond is described as a Black male with brown hair and brown eyes. He has a mole on his left eyebrow and a noticeable ball-sized birthmark on the left side of his stomach. Another distinguishing feature is a preauricular sinus on each ear, which appears as a small hole above the ear canal. In the months leading up to his disappearance, Edmond's life had been undergoing significant changes. Two months prior, he had come out as gay to his mother, who has stated she was accepting of his sexuality. However, around the same time, he began having trouble at school and was coming home increasingly late. After he went missing, his mother discovered that he had been communicating with adult men online and may have had an 18-year-old boyfriend. Authorities have considered the possibility that he ran away and did not take any personal belongings with him. There have been reported sightings of Edmond in the West Village area of Manhattan since he disappeared, a neighborhood he was known to frequent. The years following Edmond's disappearance have been filled with uncertainty for his family. While law enforcement has theorized that he may be living with friends locally, there is also speculation that he could have traveled to San Francisco, California. In 2017, a family friend reported a potential sighting of Edmond in Greenwich Village, stating that he appeared to be dressed in women's clothing, though this has not been confirmed. The case remains unsolved, and Edmond is classified as an endangered runaway. The New York City Police Department's Missing Persons Squad continues to investigate, and his family holds onto hope for his safe return. The official investigation into what happened to Edmond Tillman is ongoing, leaving his loved ones with unanswered questions about his whereabouts and well-being.
