Worryingly, he carried no backpack, food, or other essential winter gear as he ventured towards the Adirondak Loj trailhead. As daylight began to fade, several hikers saw Wesley in the High Peaks. The last known sighting of him was at Marcy Dam, a location roughly two miles into the trail. Concern mounted when he did not return, and his family alerted authorities.
