Marguerite "Peggy" Mayden, age 60, was last seen on April 30, 1980, leaving a neighbor's gathering near her home on Hickory Hills Circle in Biloxi, Mississippi. She mentioned she was heading home to prepare a meal but never returned. The next day, her home was found in disarray with evidence suggesting a violent struggle. Bloodstains were discovered, appearing to have been partially cleaned, and her dog and vehicle were missing.
Several days later, her dog was found safe about 15 miles from her residence, but Mayden herself had vanished.
Her car was later located at a local Holiday Inn on Highway 90, with witnesses reporting that a man had parked it there. Blood was found in the trunk, leading authorities to suspect foul play and believe her body may have been transported in the vehicle. Despite these clues, no one has ever been charged in connection with her disappearance, and her case remains unsolved to this day. Investigators believe she was likely the victim of a homicide.
