Mary Lang, 31 years old at the time of her disappearance, was last seen on October 21, 1983, in downtown Hays, Kansas. She had recently started a job as a legal secretary and was running work-related errands on the day she went missing. Around 1:00 p.m., she was spotted in the area, but she never returned. Her car, a maroon and gray 1977 Datsun, was found later that evening with the driver's door slightly ajar.
