Roy Jacob Hagel, a 38-year-old traveling salesman, disappeared under mysterious circumstances in 1989. He was last seen on February 26, 1989, at a bowling tournament in Fargo, North Dakota. Following the event, instead of returning home to Bismarck, Hagel embarked on a multi-state journey for reasons that remain unclear.
