It was a summer day in Las Vegas, Nevada, when Robert Wayne Turner was last seen by his brother. On that day, Robert, who was 47 years old at the time, stopped by his brother's home to drop off some tools. He mentioned he was on his way to Death Valley, California, to meet with some people. Robert also spoke of a job he had lined up in San Francisco and explained that he would be back to get his tools for that work. However, he never returned for his tools, and his family never heard from him again. Although he was last seen on July 2, 1999, his brother officially reported him as a missing person on April 13, 2000. At the time of his disappearance, Robert was described as a white male, standing between 5'10" and 5'11" tall and weighing between 160 and 165 pounds. He had brown hair that was graying and balding on top, with hazel eyes. Several distinguishing physical features were noted, including very crooked teeth, scars on both of his wrists from spider bites, and a birthmark about one inch in diameter on the left side of his head, just above his ear, where hair would not grow. Details about the clothing he was wearing on the day he vanished are unknown. It was also reported that Robert did not have a vehicle registered in his name or available for his use at the time he went missing. The circumstances surrounding Robert Turner's disappearance remain unclear, and very few details have emerged in the years since he was last seen. His stated destination was the vast and remote landscape of Death Valley, a detail that adds a layer of complexity to the search. He was headed there to meet with unspecified individuals, and his subsequent plans involved a job in San Francisco. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is the investigating agency for his case. Despite the passage of time, his case remains open, leaving his family with unanswered questions about what happened to him after he drove away from his brother's house that day.
