Morrissey told the deputy that his 1985 Chevrolet Suburban had broken down but refused help, insisting that the car would start again after some time.
When the area was checked again later, Morrissey had vanished, leaving behind his unlocked vehicle, wallet, and two dogs, which was uncharacteristic for him.
Morrissey had been suffering from depression and was not taking his prescribed medication at the time of his disappearance. He may have been disoriented or confused, and a witness reported seeing him walking down the road in a dangerous manner, as if he wanted to be hit by a passing car. Despite extensive searches, no further traces of Morrissey have been found. His family, including his wife and six children, believe he may have passed away, but his case remains unsolved.
