In the summer of 1999, Patsy L. Baker, a 42-year-old woman from Marked Tree, Arkansas, vanished, leaving behind a trail of unanswered questions. The last confirmed sighting of Patsy was on June 3, 1999, at a dentist's office in Mountain View, Arkansas, a town she had recently moved to with her boyfriend, Danny Noel Taylor. The couple had rented an apartment together in Mountain View. Patsy was not officially reported missing until the following month.
Prior to her disappearance, she had been arrested for driving while intoxicated in Marked Tree. Family members last spoke with her in July of 1999, at which time she mentioned the possibility of traveling with a truck driver named 'Tim'.
The circumstances surrounding Patsy's disappearance are unsettling. Her boyfriend, Danny Noel Taylor, told investigators that she had left him for a truck driver he knew only as Tim. He claimed to have dropped Patsy and the mysterious truck driver off at a truck stop but could not recall the location. In a strange turn of events, Patsy's vehicle was discovered in Marked Tree in 2001, two years after she was last seen. Adding to the family's pain, Patsy's adult son tragically died in a motorcycle accident in October 2005, and she made no contact with her family, leading them to believe she may be unaware of his passing. Investigators have found no paper trail for her since 1999, with no records of incarceration, hospitalization, or death anywhere in the United States.
The investigation into Patsy's disappearance took a dark turn when her boyfriend, Danny Noel Taylor, became a person of interest. In September 1999, just a few months after Patsy was last seen, Taylor brutally murdered a 72-year-old woman named Marietta Whetnall in her Mountain View home. In January 2009, he pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in Whetnall's death and was sentenced to ten years in prison. While he has never been charged in connection with Patsy's case, his violent crime so soon after her disappearance raises significant suspicion. The lack of concrete evidence has left Patsy's case unsolved, a painful reality for her loved ones who still await answers.
