Tara Lea Blue, a 30-year-old woman, was last seen on November 2, 2001, in Center, Texas. She was reportedly in the company of Richard Lee Sanders, a man who has also been missing since that time. Blue's disappearance is considered a homicide, though her body has never been recovered. The next day, a hunter discovered a crime scene in a rural wooded area near Flat Fork Creek, which indicated foul play had occurred, but there was no sign of Tara or Sanders.
Authorities believe that Tara was the victim of a murder and continue to search for answers.
Tara left behind a young daughter, and despite extensive searches, little progress has been made in solving the case. Her family held a memorial service in 2010, years after her disappearance, in hopes of closure. Investigators have been seeking information on both Tara's case and Richard Sanders, who is still at large. They caution that Sanders should not be approached if located.
The Shelby County Sheriff's Office, along with the Texas Rangers Cold Case Unit, continue to investigate, and a reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for Tara's murder.
