Prathima Venkatesan, an 8-year-old girl, was last seen on February 9, 2007, in Chaska, Minnesota. She and her younger brother, Monish, were abducted by their non-custodial mother, Renukadevi Venkatesan. The abduction was classified as a family abduction, and a felony warrant was issued for Renukadevi on January 4, 2008. At the time of her disappearance, Prathima was described as an Asian (Indian) female with black hair and black eyes, standing at 4'4" and weighing approximately 42
pounds. Both children were fluent in English and Tamil.
It is believed that Renukadevi fled with the children to India, and their whereabouts remain unknown to this day. Despite the issuance of a felony warrant, there has been no confirmed information on their location since their disappearance. Investigators continue to search for leads in this case, but it remains unsolved. The Chaska Police Department is handling the investigation, and anyone with information is encouraged to come forward.
