In the autumn of 2021, a sense of unease settled over the community of White Pine, Tennessee, as a 24-year-old man named Stone Grant Horton vanished. On October 7th, the young man, known to some as 'Stoney,' was last seen driving his black 2011 Cadillac DTS. He was dressed in khaki shorts, a white shirt, and black prescription sunglasses, possibly wearing slip-on Crocs. His family grew concerned when they were unable to contact him, and on October 12, 2021, they officially reported him missing to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, sparking an investigation into his sudden and perplexing disappearance. At the time he went missing, he was described as a white male, standing 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighing around 200 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. A notable feature is a black and red tattoo on his right shoulder.

The initial days of the investigation brought a significant but troubling discovery. On October 10, 2021, just three days after he was last seen, Stone's 2011 Cadillac DTS was found abandoned. The vehicle was located over an embankment in the neighboring Sevier County, unoccupied and with a spare tire on it. The license plate registered to the car was missing when the vehicle was recovered, adding another layer of mystery to the case. This discovery prompted law enforcement to consider that Stone may have had connections in Sevier County, as well as across the state line in North Carolina. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office issued public appeals for information, urging anyone who might have seen Stone or his vehicle to come forward.

As time stretched on, the search for Stone Horton continued, with his family taking an active role in keeping his story in the public eye through social media and public appeals. Despite these efforts and the ongoing investigation by law enforcement, few substantial leads have emerged to explain the circumstances of his disappearance. Investigators have faced challenges in pinpointing his last known movements or finding witnesses who may have seen him around the time he went missing. The case of Stone Horton remains an open and active investigation, a painful and unresolved chapter for his loved ones and the community. The discovery of his abandoned car provided a starting point, yet the questions of where he went and what transpired after he was last seen in White Pine persist, leaving a void of unanswered questions and a family still desperately hoping for his return.
