William Kent, a 20-year-old from Asheville, North Carolina, went missing on October 19, 2010, while on a field trip with students from the Chestnut School of Herbal Medicine to a barrier island in Beaufort, South Carolina. During the trip, another student noticed that Kent had disappeared. His personal items, including his cell phone, wallet, and bag, were found near a sand dune on the southern end of the island, raising immediate concerns.
