His disappearance occurred under violent and alarming circumstances, leaving a void in the lives of his loved ones that has been filled only with questions and the pain of not knowing. The events leading to Daquan's disappearance began with reports of a shooting near the intersection of Koth and Baker Streets in Walterboro. Authorities believe Daquan was a victim of this gang-related shooting, which also injured another man. Witnesses reported seeing Daquan lying in the street, having apparently been shot in the leg. However, by the time law enforcement arrived at the scene, he was gone. All that remained were unsettling clues to the violence that had taken place: a single red and black shoe in the road, a white t-shirt further down, and a jacket in a nearby yard. Despite extensive searches of the area, which included the use of a helicopter, Daquan was never located. He may have been in need of medical attention due to his injuries when he went missing.
At the time he was last seen, Daquan was described as being six feet tall and weighing around 165 to 175 pounds, with black hair, brown eyes, a mustache, and a goatee. He had a scar on his right elbow and another on his forehead, and his ears were pierced. He was reportedly wearing a black and yellow coat over a black shirt, black pants, and black and yellow sneakers. In the aftermath of the incident, an individual was arrested and charged with the attempted murder of the other man who was shot, but that charge was later dropped for lack of evidence, and no one has ever been charged in connection with Daquan's disappearance. The case has grown cold, and while his family believes he is likely deceased, the absence of a body means there is no final resting place and no true sense of closure.
