Jacob Olivier, a 23-year-old from Texas, was last seen on August 24, 2011, when he entered Everglades National Park near Homestead, Florida. Olivier, who had no known connections in Florida, drove his dark green 1998 Isuzu Hombre into the park alone. Surveillance footage showed him arriving at the park at around 1:00 p.m., and his cell phone last pinged at 4:45 p.m. that day. On August 27, park rangers found his truck abandoned at the Pine Glades Lake trailhead, with no signs of Jacob nearby. The discovery prompted an extensive search of the area, but no trace of him was found. His family had no idea he was in Florida until the truck was found.
Jacob had a history of drug use and had undergone rehabilitation in the past. However, no drugs were found in his vehicle when it was located. Notably, a gun case was found in his truck, but no firearm was inside. The search for Jacob in the Everglades was eventually called off in September 2011, with no significant leads on his whereabouts. There have been no confirmed sightings of him since, though there were unconfirmed reports that he may have been in the Savannah, Georgia, area. The circumstances surrounding his disappearance remain a mystery.
