In the fall of 2011, a young man named Nieko Lisi, aged 18, embarked on a journey that would lead to his mysterious disappearance. On September 30, 2011, Nieko was last seen by his family in Addison, New York. He and a friend, 20-year-old Robert Knight, visited Nieko's uncle, stating they were headed to Buffalo, New York, possibly for a camping trip. They were traveling in a gray 2004 GMC Canyon pickup truck. The last time Nieko's family had any contact with him was through a phone call on October 1, 2011. That same day, there were possible sightings of him in the Franklin and Nashville areas of Tennessee. In fact, Nieko had previously lived with relatives in Franklin and attended high school there for a few months in 2009. The last signal from his cell phone was a ping off a tower in Franklin at 4:08 p.m. on October 1, 2011, near a residence on Flintlock Drive. The days following Nieko's last phone call were filled with growing concern for his family. On October 1st, Robert Knight arrived at his parents' home in Romulus, Michigan, claiming Nieko had dropped him off, though no one saw Nieko. A few days later, on October 3rd, Nieko's mother received his driver's license in the mail, found on a street in Hornell, New York. This, coupled with the sudden deactivation of his Facebook account, intensified his family's worries, leading them to report him missing on October 5th. The investigation took a dark turn when Michigan police questioned Robert Knight on October 8th. During the interview, he was taken for a psychiatric evaluation and released the next day. Tragically, on October 10th, Robert Knight was found deceased from a drug overdose at his parents' home. It remains unclear if his death is connected to Nieko's disappearance. The search for Nieko and the truck he was driving continued for years. A significant break in the case came in July 2016, when the GMC Canyon pickup truck was found completely stripped down and locked inside a garage at a private residence in Nashville, Tennessee. This discovery solidified the belief that foul play was involved in Nieko's disappearance. The case, which spans across New York, Michigan, and Tennessee, remains an active investigation by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. Over the years, there have been glimmers of hope that turned into heartbreak, such as the discovery of skeletal remains in Williamson County, Tennessee, which were later confirmed not to be Nieko's. His family, particularly his mother, continues to tirelessly search for answers, holding onto the hope that they will one day bring him home. The overarching question of what happened to Nieko Lisi after he was last seen in Tennessee remains unanswered, leaving his loved ones in a painful state of uncertainty.
