In the summer of 1973, a young man named Donald George Siskar, just 18 years old, vanished into the dense woods of Washington state. On July 10th, Donald was working with the Northwest Youth Corps, part of a group of nine young men tasked with clearing a trail on Grass Mountain, an area about fifteen miles east of Enumclaw. As the workday concluded, the group began their hike out of the wilderness towards a bus that would take them home. Donald was the last person in the line of workers making their way back. When the rest of the crew arrived at the bus, they realized with growing concern that Donald was not with them. He had inexplicably disappeared somewhere along the trail and has not been seen or heard from since. Immediately following his disappearance, an extensive and thorough search of the rugged terrain was launched. Search and rescue teams, aided by bloodhounds, scoured the area around Grass Mountain, but their efforts yielded no clues. No trace of Donald, nor any of his belongings, was ever discovered. At the time he went missing, Donald was a student at Enumclaw High School. He was described as being 5'10" and weighing 140 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a brown jacket over a blue sweater, brown or gold Levi's jeans, and a white hard hat. He also had on a black Western-style belt with a large gold buckle and was carrying a white cloth lunch sack with a thermos. His family was adamant that he would not have run away, deepening the mystery of his sudden disappearance. The case of Donald Siskar has remained unsolved for decades, leaving his family and community with unanswered questions. With no evidence of what might have happened, his disappearance is classified as a lost or injured missing person case. The King County Sheriff's Office has kept the case open, but without any new leads or discoveries, the investigation has grown cold. The passage of time has not diminished the hope for answers, but the circumstances surrounding that July day remain shrouded in uncertainty. The official narrative is that Donald, the last person in a line of his coworkers, simply vanished on the trail while hiking out of the woods at the end of his workday, a perplexing and sorrowful end to an otherwise ordinary day.
