Angelo "Nick" Gatti, 21, was last seen on July 13, 1974, after being dropped off by family members near San Juan Hot Springs in the Cleveland National Forest, off Ortega Highway in California. An experienced hiker who enjoyed living in the wilderness, Angelo had planned an extended camping trip in the forest. He brought a sleeping bag and a .22 caliber revolver with him, and his family expected him to be gone for only a couple of weeks. However, after several months without any contact from him, his family became concerned and reported him missing.
Angelo, who was deeply concerned about environmental issues, was reportedly in a depressed state at the time of his disappearance. His case remains unsolved, with no confirmed sightings or communication since the day he was dropped off. Despite investigations by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, no significant leads have surfaced regarding his whereabouts.
