Norma Mae Maynard, 61, was last seen in Boone, Iowa, on February 3, 1979, just weeks after the death of her husband of 30 years. At the time, Norma lived with her adult son, who reported her missing. According to her son, she left behind a note stating she was going to Los Angeles to get away for a while and would eventually be in touch, advising not to search for her.
